RASTRELLI CELLO QUARTET, MARCH 30, 2025
FROM OUR AUDIENCE
Gigi Bass, Norwich NY
I hope you can get an idea of just how impressive we found the concert! Here are some comments from our party:
Whoever did the orchestration for this quartet deserves a Nobel Prize!
The selection of the first two pieces showcased the quartet's artistry, between the lyrical piece by Tchaikovsky, and the frenetic one by Gluck.
Four instruments with one voice, and all the colors of the rainbow!
Four voices in one language.
Even pieces with which we are familiar in full orchestration, sounded full and resonant.
The proximity to the artists and noticing their subtle signals to one another revealed how the parts were put together in the ensemble.
The harmonics in the Bartok piece were an incredible show of virtuosity!
Tossing the melody back and forth between the cellists in "in the Hall of the Mountain King" was stunning.
Listening to this concert made me want to go home and take out my instrument and play something!
What a terrific concert!
